The Experience
Your driver picks you up from your Athens hotel at the time you choose and drives you south toward the Peloponnese. The first stop is the Corinth Canal, finished in 1893 and one of the engineering wonders of its era — you'll see yachts passing beneath the cliff line and learn the canal's complex history from ancient times to now. After crossing into the Peloponnese, you walk through Ancient Corinth, one of Greece's most powerful city-states, where temples, markets and fountains still mark the streets the Classical Greeks and Romans once traveled. A small museum on site holds artifacts from the excavations.
The day's centerpiece is Mycenae, home to the palace of Agamemnon and the seat of the Mycenaean civilization from 1600 to 1100 BC. You pass through the 20-meter-wide city walls, enter through the famous Lion Gate, and explore the throne room and tombs — excavations have uncovered over 15 kilograms of gold and treasures now displayed in the on-site museum, including Agamemnon's death mask. The museum is worth visiting first for context before you walk the main site.
Lunch comes next in Nafplio, a historic port city with Venetian and Neoclassic architecture, narrow streets lined with local craft shops and cafes, and views across the bay to the Venetian castle of Bourtzi. You have time to wander, eat and rest before the final stop. The Theatre of Epidaurus, a UNESCO-listed site, sits within the Sanctuary of Asklepios, the ancient world's first healing center. The theatre dates from the 4th century and is famous for its acoustics — visitors routinely test them by reciting a poem or singing. A small museum on the grounds holds tablets describing the healing practices performed here thousands of years ago. Your driver returns you to your hotel as the day ends.
The Mercedes includes free WiFi, air conditioning and chilled bottled water throughout. You can add a 2-hour expert-led tour and tasting at a local olive estate or winery, in which case you'll visit up to two of the other sites instead of all five. A half-day option focusing on Ancient Corinth and the Corinth Canal is also available. Lunch can be added on request, with vegetarian options available — let the operator know of any allergies when you book.

Can I test the acoustics of the Theatre of Epidaurus myself?
Yes. The Theatre of Epidaurus is famous for its world-class acoustics, and visitors routinely stand in the theatre and recite a poem or sing to hear how the sound carries — it's one of the moments most people remember from the day.
What exactly is Mycenae and why does it matter?
Mycenae was the palace and seat of power for Agamemnon, leader of the Greeks during the Trojan War, and the center of the Mycenaean civilization from 1600 to 1100 BC — the first major widespread civilization in Europe. You walk through the Lion Gate, explore the throne room and tombs, and see gold treasures and Agamemnon's death mask in the on-site museum.
Does the driver enter the archaeological sites with me?
The driver provides historical context during the drive and can inform you en route, but cannot enter the archaeological sites themselves. Professional licensed guides for the sites are available on request for an additional cost if you want expert interpretation at each location.
Can I add lunch to this tour?
Yes, lunch can be added on request when you book or contact the operator later. Vegetarian dishes are available, and you should inform them of any allergies ahead of time.
What if I want to visit a winery or olive estate instead of all five sites?
You can choose a 2-hour expert-led tour and tasting at either a local winery or olive estate, and in that case visit up to two of the other sites — Corinth, Mycenae, Epidaurus or Nafplio — instead of the full five-site itinerary.
What time does the tour start?
You choose your start time when you book. The tour is flexible, so if you need a different time, contact the operator directly to arrange it.
