The Experience

The tour starts with a drive south through the Corinth Canal, the waterway connecting Attica to the Peloponnese, then moves to Mycenae to see the palace and tomb of Agamemnon. The Theatre of Epidaurus follows—the ancient amphitheater where you stand on the stone tiers. After overnight accommodation (sometimes in Nauplia, sometimes in Olympia depending on the season), Day 2 takes you to Ancient Olympia, where the Olympic games were held, and its archaeological museum. You'll see the site's layout and the bronze and marble pieces inside the museum that bring the ancient competitions into focus.

Day 3 is Delphi, one of the most important archaeological sites in Greek history. You walk the Temple of Apollo, the Temple of Athena Pronaia, and the Delphi Archaeological Museum, where the bronze statue of the Charioteer (Iniochos) and the dancers are on display. The site sits on a mountainside, and the museum is built into the slope. Day 4 takes you north to Meteora, where 11th-century monasteries sit atop towering rock formations. You visit two of them and see the statue of Leonidas before returning to Athens. Throughout, the guide carries your entrance tickets and hands them to you at each site—no separate queuing for admissions.

Accommodation is in 4-star hotels each night, with rooms assigned by party size: two adults share a double, three share a triple. An environmental fee of 10 euros per room per night is paid at hotel reception. The bus holds luggage: one medium suitcase and one small carry-on per person. Dress code applies at places of worship and selected museums—knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women; shorts and sleeveless tops are not permitted, and entry may be refused if the code is not followed. Children under 18 need a passport or ID to qualify for the discounted rate; otherwise they pay the full entrance fee at each site.

Top questions

What is the Theatre of Epidaurus and why is it on this tour?

The Theatre of Epidaurus is an ancient amphitheater in the Peloponnese, one of the best-preserved theaters from classical Greece. It is included on Day 1 because of its architectural significance and its role in ancient Greek culture; the tour visits it as part of the southern loop through Mycenae and the coastal region.

Do I need to bring my own entry tickets to the archaeological sites?

No. Your guide carries the entrance tickets for Mycenae, Epidaurus, Olympia, Delphi and the two Meteora monasteries and hands them to you at each site, so you don't need to arrange or carry them separately.

What are the Meteora monasteries and how do I visit them?

Meteora is a complex of 11th-century monasteries built on top of towering rock formations in northern Greece. On Day 4, you visit two of the monasteries as part of the tour itinerary; the exact ones depend on access and conditions on the day.

Is hotel pickup included, and from which hotels?

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included for selected hotels in Athens. Port, airport and private apartment pickups are not available, so confirm your hotel's eligibility when you book.

What languages is the guide available in?

The tour runs in English daily. French-language tours are available on Mondays only. Bilingual English/French options are offered as a separate purchase choice at checkout.

What should I pack for the dress code at religious sites?

Knees and shoulders must be covered at places of worship and selected museums for both men and women. Avoid shorts and sleeveless tops. Bring lightweight long pants or skirts and shirts with sleeves; entry may be refused if the dress code is not met.
