The experience
Delphi sits on the first day's route from Athens. You'll walk the archaeological site with a licensed guide who explains the Sanctuary of Apollo and the history layered into the ruins, then travel through the Thessalian plains toward Kalambaka. The drive itself crosses farmland and small towns that most day trips skip. You stay overnight in a 3- or 4-star hotel depending on which option you choose, with dinner and breakfast included.
The second morning, you visit two of Meteora's monasteries perched on the cliff faces above Kalambaka. These are working religious communities, so a dress code applies: knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women, and no sleeveless tops or shorts are permitted. Your guide carries the entrance tickets for both Delphi and the monasteries, so you walk past the ticket lines. After the monasteries and free time for lunch in town, the return journey to Athens takes the afternoon.
The tour runs in English year-round, and French-language departures are available Wednesdays from April through October. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included for selected hotels in Athens. If your accommodation is outside those zones, public transport options are available nearby. Each traveler can bring one medium suitcase and one small carry-on bag on the bus. Children under 18 need a passport or ID to qualify for the discounted entrance ticket price at the archaeological sites.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
In English, at 08:30. In French.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 12 years); Infant (under 4): free.
What exactly is the Sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi, and what will I see there?
The Sanctuary of Apollo is the main archaeological complex at Delphi, a UNESCO World Heritage site built into a mountainside in central Greece. You'll walk through the ruins with your guide and see the temple foundations, treasuries, and the theater, all set among olive groves with views across the valley below.
Are the Meteora monasteries still active, and what's it like to visit them?
Yes, Meteora's monasteries are working religious communities built atop natural rock pillars. When you visit two of them on day two, you'll climb stairs and walk through the buildings where monks still live. The dress code (covered knees and shoulders) is enforced because these are active places of worship, not museums.
What's included in the overnight hotel, and where exactly is Kalambaka?
Kalambaka is a town in the Thessalian plains that sits at the base of Meteora's rock formations. Your hotel there is either 3-star or 4-star depending on your option, and dinner and breakfast are included. You'll have the evening free to explore the town or rest before the monastery visits the next morning.
What happens with lunch, and is there free time to eat on my own?
Lunch is not included in the tour price. On day two, after visiting the monasteries, you have free time in Kalambaka to find a restaurant and eat before the return drive to Athens. Day one does not include a scheduled lunch stop.
