The experience
The tour runs 10 to 14 hours from pickup in Accra, with private transportation and an air-conditioned vehicle for the full day. You start with a scenic drive to Wli Waterfalls in the Volta Region, then walk a flat forest trail for about 45 minutes to reach the lower falls. A 60-meter cascade where you can swim in the natural pool. The sound of the water grows louder as you approach, and the rainforest canopy frames the entire experience.
From there, you move to Mount Afadjato, Ghana's highest peak. The hike to the summit takes around 2 hours up and down, passing through lush forest with diverse plant life. At the top, you get panoramic views across the surrounding landscape: the payoff for the climb. After descending, you head to Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, where Mona monkeys have lived in the protected forest for over 200 years. You observe them in their natural habitat, and the sanctuary offers insight into local conservation efforts and Ewe culture.
Breakfast, lunch, snacks and bottled water come throughout the day. The guide speaks English or French and leads all three stops. Children from age 4 are welcome, though infants must sit on an adult's lap. The vehicle has WiFi on board, and all park fees and taxes are covered in the price.

Is this one for you?The day involves several hours of walking (a flat 45-minute forest trail to the waterfall and a 2-hour round-trip hike up Mount Afadjato), so you'll need moderate fitness and comfortable hiking shoes. The itinerary packs three distinct sites into one full day, which means early pickup and a long schedule, but private transport and meals included mean you don't stop to arrange either.
