The experience
The day starts with a descent of 250 steps to reach Boti Falls, a twin waterfall where you relax by the bank with snacks and cold drinks. A dugout canoe tour on the water is included, and anyone wanting more adventure can swim in the falls themselves. The itinerary notes that between November and March the falls may dry up due to limited rainfall. In those months, the guide will take you to Adom Falls or Oboadaka Falls instead, which sit in the same area.
At Aburi Botanical Gardens, a guided tour walks you through the history and origins of local tree and plant species, pointing out their medicinal properties. The gardens themselves are known for birds and butterflies, and the route takes in several named features: the palm walk at the main entrance, the Bush House, the Rock Garden, the Pergola, a historic Ficus tree, and a retired helicopter on the grounds. Umbrella Rock comes next, a 45-minute hike through the forest to a rock formation and a three-headed palm tree: a botanical oddity where the three heads take turns bearing fruit each year, never all at once.
The Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm is Ghana's first cocoa farm, and the visit covers the history of cocoa in the country, its lifespan as a crop, and its economic importance. You taste raw cocoa straight from the tree to understand what natural cocoa is like before processing. Private transportation, an air-conditioned vehicle, WiFi on board, and an experienced local guide in English are included throughout.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What happens at Boti Falls during the dry season between November and March?
Boti Falls may dry up due to limited rainfall in those months. When that occurs, your guide will take you to Adom Falls or Oboadaka Falls instead, both located in the same area of the Eastern Region.
Can I swim in Boti Falls, or is it just a viewing stop?
Swimming is optional and available for anyone seeking more adventure. Most visitors relax by the bank with snacks and drinks, but the choice to swim is yours.
What is the three-headed palm tree, and why is it unusual?
The three-headed palm tree grows at Boti Falls with three separate heads that take turns bearing fruit each year: never all three at the same time. It is a rare natural occurrence you will see during the tour.
What will I learn at the cocoa farm about Ghanaian chocolate?
At Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm, you learn the history of cocoa in Ghana, how long cocoa plants live, and the economic benefits cocoa brings to the country. You also taste raw cocoa directly from the tree to experience what it tastes like before it is processed into chocolate.
How much walking and climbing is involved in this tour?
You descend 250 steps to reach Boti Falls and ascend them again on the way out. Umbrella Rock involves a 45-minute hike through the forest, though a car option is available if you prefer not to walk that section. The botanical gardens tour is at a leisurely pace.
