Step-by-step itinerary

Discover Alsatian wines in Strasbourg

  • Introduction to Alsatian wines
  • Pass through Krutenau district
  • Learn about wine production and barrels
  • Taste at least six Alsatian wines

The experience

You'll spend 90 minutes moving through Strasbourg's wine bars and local establishments, tasting at least six different Alsatian wines chosen to show the range of what the region produces. Your guide, fluent in English and passionate about Alsatian wine, walks you through the dry whites, semi-dry varieties, and sweet wines that define the terroir: explaining which grapes go into each bottle and why the same variety tastes different depending on where it's grown. You'll pass the Astronomical Clock and through the Krutenau district, a quieter part of the city center where locals actually drink.

The tasting happens in the afternoon or early evening, which means you're moving through Strasbourg when the wine bars are settling into their rhythm but before the night crowd arrives. Along the way, your guide shows you traditional Alsatian barrels and explains how the wine gets made, so you're not just tasting. You're learning why each wine tastes the way it does. If you find something you want to take home, you can buy it on the spot. The operator handles export logistics if you need it.

Groups stay small, capped at ten people, so you're not herded through a crowded tasting room. The experience is built around conversation and discovery rather than speed, and your guide adjusts the pace based on what the group wants to know. You'll need to be 18 or older to join.
