Step-by-step itinerary
Cellar tour and wine tasting
- Begin tasting in wine space
- Watch video on Alsace wine production
- Visit cellar with historic barrels
- Discover family history with immersive video
- Taste gourmet wine with sweet and savory treats
The experience
The tasting starts in the wine space with a video explaining how Alsace wines are made, then moves into the cellar itself. The wooden barrels here are over a hundred years old, and the operator has built a scenographic display around them: a 180° immersive video projected directly onto the barrels that walks you through the family history of the house. This setup is unique in France. You'll also see the barrel from the 1900 Universal Exhibition, a piece of the region's wine heritage.
After the cellar, you move to the tearoom area for the core of the experience: five glasses of Alsace wine, each paired with a different course of sweet and savory delicacies. The pairing includes cheese, charcuterie, macaroons, gingerbread, fresh fruit, chocolate and fruit coulis. The whole sequence is designed around what the operator calls a "gourmet wine" tasting, not a rush through samples, but a seated, deliberate progression. Children who don't want to taste the wine can order a snack from the menu instead, so they're not left out of the gathering.
The tour runs two hours total. A live guide leads the experience in either English or French, your choice at checkout. The cellar is accessible to all fitness levels, and if you're traveling with infants or small children, strollers are welcome. Specialized infant seats are available if you need one.
