The experience
The day starts at the Giza Pyramids, where you walk the complex to see the three main pyramids and the Great Sphinx. A guide explains the history and architecture as you take photos in front of the monuments. The Pyramid of Queen Henutsen, a lesser-known Middle Kingdom structure, offers a quieter perspective on the site. If you want to enter one of the pyramids, that ticket costs extra and is arranged separately.
From there, you ride a camel in the desert around the pyramids: a chance to see them from a different angle and capture photos from the saddle. The ride is the signature moment of the afternoon portion, letting you move through the landscape the way travelers have for centuries. Optional stops at papyrus or perfume shops can be added if you choose.
After the pyramids, you return to Cairo for the evening cruise. A two-hour Nile River dinner cruise departs with you aboard one of the city's main floating restaurants. The open buffet includes Egyptian and international dishes and desserts. As the boat moves downriver, belly dancers and Tanoura performers take the stage, backed by an Egyptian band and a mix of Western and Oriental music. Between performances, you can step onto the deck to feel the Nile breeze and watch Cairo's illuminated skyline pass by. The cruise ends with a hotel drop-off.
