The experience

Hotel pickup in Cairo starts the day, and a private air-conditioned car takes you straight to Giza plateau without the haggling or navigation you'd face alone. Your English-speaking Egyptologist guide walks you through the three main pyramids (the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the pyramid of Khafre and the pyramid of Menkaure) explaining the history and construction as you stand in front of them. The guide covers the reign of Khufu, who ruled for about twenty-three years from 2574 to 2550 BCE, and the scale and purpose of each structure.

After the pyramids, you move to the Great Sphinx for photographs, then visit the Valley Temple, a mortuary temple also on the Giza plateau. A camel ride is included in the itinerary. Later in the afternoon, you're transferred to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which opened recently and is set to become the world's largest archaeological museum. Many pieces in its collection are on display for the first time, including artifacts from Tutankhamun's tomb. Lunch at an authentic Egyptian restaurant happens during the day, and you return to your hotel by early evening.

The tour runs seven hours total and includes all entry tickets to the sites, bottled water, and all transfers by vehicle.
