The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your hotel and a drive to the Great Pyramid of Cheops, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Your guide provides context on Egyptian history and culture as you arrive at the pyramid complex, where you explore the valley temple and take in the panoramic view of Khufu's pyramid. From there, you move to Khafre's pyramid complex, which includes a valley temple, Sphinx temple, causeway and mortuary temple. Several statues of Khafre were discovered in the valley temple. The third stop is Menkaure's pyramid complex, with its own valley temple, causeway, mortuary temple and king's pyramid. Statues of Menkaure once stood in the valley temple, and a smaller ante-temple was added during the 5th Dynasty.

The tour concludes at the Great Sphinx, the limestone monument dating to King Khafre's reign, and its adjacent temple. After the pyramid sites, you head to the Grand Egyptian Museum, a modern facility housing an extensive collection of artifacts from ancient Egypt. The museum's centerpiece is the treasures of Tutankhamun, displayed in galleries that offer a captivating view of Egypt's past. Though the museum is not yet fully open, the sections available provide a substantial look at the civilization you've just explored at Giza.
