The experience

My partner tried to “hold” the pyramid in her hand for a picture. Hossam laughed and gave her tips on how to angle it just right. The Sphinx looked more worn than photos show, almost tired, but somehow more alive for it.

Afterwards, we headed to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. It’s cool inside, literally, and honestly a relief after Giza’s sun. The place is huge but not overwhelming. By the end I felt both exhausted and weirdly peaceful. We drove back through Cairo as evening crept in, streetlights flickering on one by one.
