The experience

Day one starts at 8 AM when your guide picks you up for the Giza Plateau, where you'll stand before the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre and the Pyramid of Menkaura, then face the Great Sphinx guarding the plateau. You'll visit the Valley Temple where pharaohs were purified before mummification, stop at a panoramic viewpoint for photographs, and break for lunch at a local restaurant. The afternoon takes you south to Saqqara, home to the Step Pyramid of King Djoser: the oldest major stone structure in the world, built around 2700 BC. You'll explore the tombs of high officials decorated with scenes of daily life, the Pyramid of King Titi with its earliest pyramid texts, and the Pyramid of King Unas, known for its mystical inscriptions about the afterlife. The day ends further south at Dahshur, where you'll see the Red Pyramid built by King Sneferu and the Bent Pyramid, a unique architectural marvel showing the evolution of pyramid design.

Day two is a Cairo city tour beginning at the Grand Egyptian Museum, the newest and largest archaeological museum in the world. Your guide brings ancient Egypt to life through royal treasures and monumental statues, many displayed publicly for the first time. The Treasures of King Tutankhamun (jewelry, ceremonial items and personal belongings preserved for over 3,000 years) are a true highlight. You'll then move through Old Cairo, visiting the Hanging Church built atop the Roman Tower of the Fortress of Babylon, descending into the crypt beneath the Church of Abu Serga where the Holy Family is believed to have sheltered, and exploring the Ben Ezra Synagogue, once the heart of Cairo's Jewish community. After lunch at a quality restaurant, you'll spend time in Khan El Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest and most famous markets in the Middle East, where narrow alleys overflow with spices, handmade crafts, jewelry and perfumes.

Day three takes you to Alexandria by air-conditioned vehicle. You'll descend into the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, an underground wonder carved across three levels beneath the earth, a fusion of ancient Egyptian and Roman art with intricately carved statues, sarcophagi and chambers. Next is Pompey's Pillar, standing nearly 30 meters high with no support: the tallest ancient monument in Alexandria and a marvel of Roman engineering. You'll explore the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a modern architectural masterpiece paying homage to the ancient Library of Alexandria, once the greatest center of learning in the ancient world. Lunch is a seafood meal at one of Alexandria's finest restaurants with Mediterranean views.
