The Experience

The morning starts with a 30-minute ride on the Panoramic One, a glass-bottom boat with a sanitary bathroom where you drink tropical fruit juice and watch the Caribbean floor pass beneath you. The boat carries you to Cabeza de Toro, where a comfortable platform sits in the shallows and a dive master waits to brief you on what comes next.

The motorized scooter works on a bell principle—when you turn a glass upside down in water, air stays trapped inside. Your helmet operates the same way: as you descend to 4 meters, a seal forms around it and keeps the inside dry. You sit upright on the scooter, breathe normally through the air pocket, and steer yourself through the marine environment for about 15 minutes. The dive master stays with you, and fish approach close enough to interact with. This setup means you don't need a mask, snorkel tube or the physical effort of conventional diving—useful if you wear prescription lenses or simply want to move through the water without the usual constraints.

After the scooter descent, you surface and move to the snorkeling portion at El Niño, the recognized official diving point next to the platform. A lifeguard guide joins you here to point out corals and local fish species while you observe them from the surface. The whole experience—boat, scooter, snorkeling and return—takes 3.5 hours. Transportation from Bavaro and Los Corales hotels is included; transfers from Punta Cana airport, Cap Cana or Uvero Alto cost $20 extra per person.
