Snorkeling in Punta Cana: Catamaran, Parasailing & Diving
Three water sports and a party boat in one half-day
This half-day catamaran activity in Punta Cana combines snorkeling, hookah diving and parasailing with hotel pickup and drop-off. You get snorkeling gear, parasailing equipment and hookah diving gear, plus unlimited drinks and a live guide who speaks English or French. The coast near Bavaro is where all three happen—you choose which activity to lead with and how long to spend on each one.
The Experience
What makes this different from picking one water sport is that you're not choosing—you get all three in the same half-day. The catamaran leaves from your hotel and brings you to the same reef where you can snorkel first, then try hookah diving (breathing underwater without the full tank and certification of scuba), then move to the parasailing platform. The boat itself becomes part of the day: between activities there's an open bar and the energy of other people doing the same thing, so it's as much a floating party as it is a diving expedition.
Snorkeling equipment is provided, so you arrive with nothing but a swimsuit. Hookah diving uses a supplied air line that runs from the boat, which means no certification required—you descend to about 30 feet and breathe normally underwater. Parasailing is the last piece: you're harnessed to a parachute and towed behind the boat, rising over the water while the coast recedes below. A professional guide is with you throughout, and the drinks keep flowing between activities. The whole thing runs about three and a half hours, which is why it fits into a half-day without eating the rest of your schedule.
Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so the only thing you arrange is showing up at your room at the agreed time. The guide speaks English or French depending on the group, and the boat handles all the logistics—you move from one activity to the next without loading a car or finding a new location. Souvenir photos are available to purchase if you want the moments documented.

What's the difference between snorkeling and hookah diving on this catamaran?
Snorkeling keeps you at the surface with a mask and tube, watching the reef below. Hookah diving on this catamaran lets you descend to about 30 feet breathing from an air line that runs from the boat—you're underwater but without needing scuba certification or training.
Do I need to know how to swim or have diving experience?
The activity is suitable for all physical fitness levels. Snorkeling requires basic comfort in water; hookah diving on this boat doesn't require certification because the guide controls the air supply and depth. The operator notes it's not recommended for pregnant travelers or those with poor cardiovascular health.
Is the parasailing part mandatory, or can I skip it and do more snorkeling?
The package includes all three activities—snorkeling, hookah diving and parasailing—as part of the half-day itinerary. The boat visits the same reef for all of them, so you can spend more time on whichever appeals to you most, but parasailing is part of what you're paying for.
What happens if I'm not comfortable going underwater?
You can snorkel at the surface the entire time, which is what most people do for at least part of the day. Hookah diving and parasailing are optional in the sense that you can choose not to do them, but the boat is set up for all three, and the guide can help you decide what feels right when you arrive.
How much time do we actually spend in the water versus on the boat?
The half-day runs about three and a half hours total. Most of that is in or on the water—snorkeling and diving happen at the reef, parasailing happens while towed behind the boat. The catamaran itself is where you rest between activities and access the open bar.
Can children come on this snorkeling catamaran?
Infants and small children can come—infants can ride in a stroller or pram, and must sit on an adult's lap during the boat ride. The operator notes it's suitable for all physical fitness levels, though hookah diving and parasailing have practical limits for very young children based on comfort and safety.
