ATV Riding in Punta Cana: Farm, Cave & Beach
You drive the ATV yourself through mud, river crossings, and tropical trails.
ATV riding in Punta Cana puts you behind the handlebars of your own buggy or ATV for a four-hour eco-adventure through rugged Dominican terrain. You'll navigate dirt roads and river crossings, stop at a working farm to taste coffee and chocolate, swim in an underground cave's natural pool, and finish at Macao Beach. Round-trip transportation, safety gear, helmet, and a guide in multiple languages are included; children from age 4 can ride.
Step-by-step itinerary
ATV adventure and nature exploration
- Arrive at Eco Ranch and check in
- Receive safety gear and instructions
- Drive through rugged trails and river crossings
- Stop for photos along the route
- Visit local plantations and learn about crops
- Experience coffee, cacao, and mamajuana tasting
- Swim in Cueva Taína freshwater pool
- Relax and enjoy Playa Macao beach
The Experience
The day starts at the Eco Ranch base camp with a safety briefing and gear check. Once you're suited up and the guide walks you through operating the ATV or buggy, the ride begins—you control the machine through muddy trails, tropical vegetation, and authentic Dominican countryside. The terrain shifts between packed dirt and river crossings, with stops built in for photos and to catch your breath. This is not a guided tour where you sit and watch; you're operating the vehicle the whole way, which is why the experience demands focus and balance but works for riders of any fitness level.
The farm stop breaks up the riding. You'll visit a traditional Dominican house and local plantations to learn what grows here—tobacco, rum, coffee, and cacao—and taste organic products from the land. The cave comes next: Cueva Taína is a natural underground chamber with a crystal-clear freshwater pool where you can swim and cool off after hours in the heat. Then the route heads to Macao Beach, one of the least crowded stretches of sand in the area, where you can walk into the ocean and rest before the ride back to the ranch.
Round-trip transportation from your hotel is included, so you don't arrange the logistics yourself. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language depending on your option. Helmets and the ATV or buggy are provided; bring sunscreen and a towel, and wear clothes you don't mind getting muddy.

Is this one for you?Book the single ATV if you want to ride solo and control the pace yourself; choose the double ATV or buggy if you'd rather share the ride and split the cost with a travel partner. The family buggy works best for groups with children, since kids from age 4 can ride along without operating their own machine.
