The experience
The day starts with pickup from your hotel and moves through the Larnaca countryside at a pace set by your group alone. You'll visit Kornos Coop Pottery, a women's cooperative workshop founded in 1953, then head to Lefkara, where narrow streets open onto workshops selling the village's famous lace, called Lefkaritika, and handcrafted silver. Lunch happens here, giving you time to walk and browse. An optional stop at a 4th-century monastery founded by Saint Helen can be added if the group wants it.
The winery visit centers on Ktima Christoudia in the hillside village of Kato Drys. The operator leads you through the cellar and vineyard, then pours tastings of their vintages. After that comes Choirokoitia, a Neolithic settlement so well preserved it earned UNESCO World Heritage status in 1998. You walk through ruins that are roughly 9,000 years old. The route also passes through Tochni, where a reconstructed Orthodox church and the ruins of a Latin church sit on a bridge said to have been founded by Saint Helena herself, and a Byzantine church in nearby Kiti rounds out the religious architecture. Mountain views appear throughout the drive.
The tour runs seven to eight hours total. Private transport means your group travels alone in an air-conditioned vehicle, and the guide speaks English. Entrance fees to Choirokoitia, the halloumi-making workshop (if added), and the winery are paid separately on the day, as is any gratuity for the guide.
