The drive from Dubrovnik takes you south into Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the first stop is Kravice Waterfalls. You have time to swim in the pools below the cascade during summer months (bring a change of clothes), or walk around and photograph the water and the limestone cliffs if you go in cooler seasons. The waterfall entrance fee is included, so you step straight in without a separate transaction.

From there, a short walk through Pocitelj gives you the feel of a medieval town without a long commitment — the driver stops, you walk and take photos, and you move on. The real time opens up in Mostar. You get free time to walk the Stari Most (the 16th-century Ottoman bridge that gave the city its name), wander the bazaar, eat lunch at a place you choose, and move at your own pace through the old town.
