The Experience

Ten to eleven hours door-to-door, starting with pickup at your Dubrovnik hotel. Your driver meets you with a sign and your name, then heads south along the Adriatic coastline toward the Bosnian border. The first hour passes the Elafiti Islands—a small archipelago of thirteen islands visible from the road—and crosses the Pelješac Bridge, Croatia's longest cable-stayed span at 2.4 kilometers. The landscape shifts into the Neretva Delta, a wetland where the river flows into the sea and mandarins grow in terraced fields along channels and vegetable gardens.

After border formalities into Bosnia and Herzegovina, you arrive in Medjugorje for an orientation tour by car. The driver passes St. James Church, the apparition hill, and the house of Vicka Ivanković, one of the six visionaries, then points out streets lined with souvenir shops and restaurants. From there, your time is your own. You can climb the apparition hill (wear comfortable shoes), enter St. James Church, explore the park behind it, have lunch, shop, or sit quietly. The driver remains available for transport between the hill and the town center if you need it. An early start—ideally 7am—lets you attend the morning Mass; if you prefer a later departure, tell the operator and the itinerary adjusts.

On the return to Dubrovnik, you stop at Kravice Waterfalls, a cascade in a natural park where the Neretva River drops into a pool. Entry to the park costs approximately 10 euros per person and is not included. After the waterfalls, you cross back into Croatia, clear passport control, and the driver delivers you to your hotel in Dubrovnik or the surrounding area.
