The experience
Eight hours takes you through the three layers of what makes this region distinct. In the morning, you walk under the wax palms of Cocora Valley (Colombia's national tree, growing taller than anywhere else on earth), and climb toward the cloud forest that wraps the mountainside. After lunch at one of the region's best restaurants, the afternoon shifts from landscape to labor: at Finca El Ocaso, you learn how Colombian coffee moves from plant to cup, and you get to do part of it yourself, planting a wax palm sapling in the soil.
The tour closes in Salento itself, a town recognized as one of the world's fifty most charming, where you walk the main street, the plaza and the viewpoints that overlook the valley and the central Andes range. Your guide is live and speaks your language. Private transportation is included throughout, which means the schedule stays yours and the stops stretch as long as you need them.
