The experience
The day starts with a drive into Cocora Valley, where you walk among wax palms that reach 60 meters high: the tallest palms in the world. The forest walk follows nature trails through the mountains, crossing small bridges and stopping at viewpoints where the landscape opens up in every direction. A bilingual guide explains the ecology as you move through the terrain at your own pace, with time built in for photographs and rest.
From there, the route moves to Salento, a village of colorful colonial buildings and narrow streets that sit at the heart of the Coffee Axis. You have free time to walk Calle Real, browse craft shops, climb to the Alto de la Cruz viewpoint for a panoramic view of the coffee-covered mountains, and eat at a local restaurant. The guide is there to answer questions but the exploration is yours.
The coffee experience happens on a traditional farm in the region, where you see the entire process (from the plants in the field to the roasting and grinding), and taste a fresh cup prepared on the estate. The final stop is Filandia, a quieter village with colorful balconies and artisan shops, where the illuminated viewpoint overlooks the coffee and mountain landscapes. A day before departure, the operator contacts you by WhatsApp to confirm the exact pickup time and meeting point.
