The experience

Your guide meets you at your Suzhou hotel or the railway station in the morning and drives you in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to Humble Administrator's Garden, or another garden of your choice if you prefer. Inside, you walk through old houses, ponds, and covered walkways that make up one of China's most celebrated classical gardens. The layout is built around water and reflection, so sitting in a pavilion beside the pond gives the sense of stepping back into history without leaving the city.

After the garden, the route takes you to Pingjiang Road, then to either Hanshan Temple or Tiger Hill depending on what interests you. A local lunch follows before the drive to Tongli Water Town, about an hour outside Suzhou. There you walk through Tuisi Garden (Retreat & Reflection Garden) on the water's edge, then board a boat for a relaxing ride through the village.
