The experience
Your guide and driver meet you at your Suzhou hotel or train station and the day unfolds around what you want to see. Most tours start at one or two of the classical gardens (the Humble Administrator's Garden, Lingering Garden or Master of the Nets Garden), where you walk through ponds, rockeries, bridges and pavilions while your guide explains the history and design. These are UNESCO sites built over different dynasties, and the gardens themselves are the main draw: no rushing through a list, just time to take in the layout and the details.
From the gardens, the route typically moves to Pingjiang Road, a stone-paved street running alongside an ancient canal with willow trees, small bridges and local shops. You can walk the lanes or, if you choose, take a gondola ride on the water. After that comes lunch, either included at a local restaurant your guide recommends based on what you eat, or you pick your own spot. The afternoon usually includes Tiger Hill, where you'll see the famous leaning pagoda and can walk up to the hilltop if you want the view. If time and interest allow, your guide can add other stops: the Silk Museum to watch silk being made from cocoons, Panmen Gate, Hanshan Temple or Beisi Pagoda.
Because this is a private tour, you're not locked into a set schedule. Tell your guide at the start what you'd rather skip or add, and the day adjusts. The driver handles transport between stops in a comfortable car, so you're not walking between distant sites or waiting for a group. At the end of the day, you're dropped back at your hotel or the train station.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Chinese and Chinese.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 7 years); Infant (under 3): free.
Can I visit the Suzhou Museum on this tour?
Yes, the Suzhou Museum can be added if you mention it in your booking notes and reserve at least seven days ahead. Entry is not guaranteed if the museum reaches capacity, so early notice helps secure your spot.
What are the UNESCO gardens in Suzhou, and which ones does this tour cover?
The classical gardens of Suzhou are ancient landscaped spaces built over centuries, designed with ponds, rocks, bridges and pavilions to reflect nature in miniature. This tour lets you choose to visit one or two of them (typically the Humble Administrator's Garden, Lingering Garden or Master of the Nets Garden) depending on your interests and how much time you want to spend in each.
Is lunch included, and can I request dietary changes?
Lunch is included only if you book the "Private Tour with Lunch" option. If you book the tour-only option, you eat on your own and your guide can recommend places. Tell the operator about any dietary needs at booking so your guide knows what to suggest.
What is Pingjiang Road like?
Pingjiang Road is an old street alongside an ancient waterway, lined with stone lanes, small bridges, willow trees and local crafts shops. It's known as the "Little Oriental Venice" because of the canals running through it. You can stroll the lanes or opt for a gondola ride on the water.
How does the pickup work if I'm arriving by train?
Your guide and driver will meet you at Suzhou railway station if you're traveling by train, or at your hotel if you're staying in the city. They'll take you from there and drop you back at the same location at the end of the tour.
Can I change the itinerary during the tour if I want to see something different?
Yes. The itinerary is fully flexible, so you can tell your guide at the start or during the tour if you'd like to skip a stop or add something else. Your guide will adjust the day around what interests you most.
