The experience
Four hours starts with pickup from your hotel and a drive to Chilli Cool House, a traditional Sichuan courtyard in the city. You'll settle into a private room with local Gaiwan tea and snacks while the chef prepares the kitchen. This is not a restaurant meal where you order from a menu you cannot read. Instead, you walk into a space built for your group alone, with a professional chef waiting to teach you.
The cooking part is optional but the core of it: you can watch the chef work through the steps or roll up your sleeves and follow their instructions to process and cook the food yourself. Either way, you'll see how different Sichuan spices and ingredients work, and understand why the cuisine tastes the way it does. If cooking is not your thing, Mahjong, photography and conversation with your group fill the same hours. Refreshments flow throughout.
Lunch or dinner is the payoff. You choose from over fifty classic Sichuan dishes (Mapo Tofu, spicy broths, lighter vegetable plates), and eat them all in your private room. Beer, Chinese wine and soft drinks are unlimited. After the meal, your leader drives you back to your hotel.
