The experience

The Oliver and Osoyoos area produces wines found nowhere else, shaped by the region's hot summer sun, arid climate and unique soil types that ripen late-harvest reds like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. Your guide meets you at your hotel and drives you to the first winery, providing background on the vineyard's history and approach before you arrive. The Black Sage Bench sits on some of Canada's hottest, driest and sunniest ground (more sunlight hours than Napa Valley during the key growing months), so the grapes develop intense flavour and the wines carry a minerality distinct to the region.

At each of the four wineries, you'll sit at your own table for a guided tasting of a curated selection. One stop is Maverick, which uses Old World, by-hand winemaking methods instead of mechanized production, capturing multi-layered flavours through work in tune with nature. Another is Black Hills Estate on Black Sage Road, where west-facing slopes and deep desert sands create daytime heat that ripens the fruit fully, then cool nights that lock in acidity. Your guide walks you through the wines as you taste, and you can add the Chef's seasonal food pairings at extra cost, each plate matched to a wine in your flight.

The tour runs about four hours total. Chilled bottled and sparkling water are provided. Your guide speaks English or French, and pickup and dropoff happen in Osoyoos, Oliver or Okanagan Falls. Pickups outside this zone carry a small surcharge. Tastings fees are included, though you can request alternate wineries if the standard four don't suit your taste.

What makes the wines from Oliver and Osoyoos different from other B.C. regions?

The Oliver and Osoyoos area, including the Black Sage Bench and Golden Mile, is B.C.'s first wine sub-region, recognized for its unique climate, soil types and wine styles. The region gets more sunlight hours than Napa Valley during the key growing months of June through August, and the combination of hot days and cool nights creates intensely flavourful grapes with distinctive minerality found nowhere else.

Can I add food to go with the wines?

Yes, you can add the Chef's seasonal food pairings at extra cost. Each plate is matched to a wine in your flight for a complete wine country tasting experience.

What happens if I want to visit different wineries than the standard four?
