The experience

You start at your hotel in Vernon, Coldstream, Lake Country or Sparkling Hill Resort, where the air-conditioned vehicle picks you up and heads into the wine region. The route connects four wineries across the Scenic Sip Wine Trail: Gray Monk, which pioneered Pinot Gris in Canada and sits on an estate that began as an orchard in the 1970s; Intrigue Wines, a family operation founded by four partners with backgrounds in winemaking, farming and healthcare; Peak Cellars, the newest stop, set on 300 acres with views across Okanagan Lake and an organic garden that supplies its bistro; and Arrowleaf, a Swiss-founded family winery that opened its architect-designed tasting room in 2014. At each stop you taste 4 to 5 wines and have time to browse and buy if something catches your palate.

The guide leads the tastings and knows the stories behind each vineyard: the Austrian couple who planted Alsatian varieties, the accountant and internet entrepreneur who paired up to make wine, the Swiss dairy farmers who shifted to grapes. You'll sample Pinot Gris, Riesling, Rosé and other estate wines against the backdrop of three lakes and rolling hills. Bottled water is provided throughout, and the vehicle stays cool between stops. The whole day is four hours from pickup to drop-off.

Tasting fees are included, so you pay nothing at the door. The guide's gratuity is built into the price. Wine purchases are your choice at each winery. The tour does not bundle them. You need to be 19 or older to participate, and the pace suits all fitness levels since most time is spent seated or standing indoors at the tasting bars.
