The experience
The tour departs Manaus at 08:00 from the office, then crosses the Amazon River by speed boat to Careiro village, passes the meeting of the waters, and continues by van and a second speed boat to reach Juma Lake Camp House by 11:00. That afternoon you start with a canoe expedition for piranha fishing and dolphin observation, then return after dark for a cayman-spotting trip where the guide catches a smaller one so you can photograph it up close. Three nights in the lodge means three full days of activities built around what the jungle actually offers.
Day two starts before sunrise with a bird watch, then moves into an ecological jungle trek from 08:00 to 11:00 where the guide explains medicinal plants, survival techniques, and points out spiders, monkeys and sloths. After lunch you sleep overnight in the jungle itself, learning night-time wildlife behavior and spear fishing by torchlight. Day three begins with breakfast cooked in the jungle, then a visit to a caboclo house to watch manioc flour production and meet the people who live there year-round. The afternoon is paddle canoeing through flooded forest and small creeks. On the final morning you visit a rubber-processing site where a local demonstrates traditional techniques before the return journey to Manaus, arriving around 17:00.
The bilingual guide handles all logistics: transfers from your Manaus hotel or airport, boat navigation, meal preparation in the lodge and jungle camp, and safety during night activities. Wildlife sightings depend on weather and animal movement: the protected area raises the odds, but nothing is guaranteed. Climatic conditions can shift rapidly in the Amazon, so excursions may change or cancel for safety reasons without refund.

Top questions
What animals might I see on a 4-day Amazon jungle tour from Manaus?
Pink river dolphins, piranhas, caimans, monkeys, sloths and spiders appear regularly during canoe trips and jungle treks, especially in the protected Juma Lake area. Bird watching at sunrise offers the best chance for sightings, though wildlife viewing depends on weather and animal behavior and cannot be guaranteed.
Do I sleep in a bed or a tent on the overnight jungle camping?
The first three nights are in Juma Lake Camp House, a lodge with private or dorm room options depending on which booking you choose. On night two you sleep in the jungle itself as part of the overnight expedition, learning nocturnal survival skills.
How much walking and physical effort is involved in the jungle trekking?
The ecological trek runs three hours (08:00 to 11:00) on day two and covers jungle terrain where the guide explains plants and animals. The tour suits all fitness levels, though it is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnancy.
What meals are provided during the 4 days in the Amazon?
All meals and mineral water are included throughout the tour: breakfast, lunch and dinner at the lodge on days one, three and four, plus breakfast and dinner prepared by the guide during the overnight jungle camp on night two.
Does the price include getting from Manaus airport to the tour?
Airport pickup is included when you provide your flight details in advance. The return to Manaus on day four ends at the office around 17:00. Airport drop-off is not included, so you arrange your own transport from there.
What is the meeting of the waters, and do I see it on this tour?
The meeting of the waters is where the dark Rio Negro and the lighter Amazon River flow side by side without immediately mixing, creating a visible line across the water. You pass it by speed boat during the transfer from Careiro village to the jungle lodge on day one.
