The experience
The tour starts with a 8:30am pickup from your hotel in Manaus, then a 30-minute speedboat crossing of the Rio Negro to Cacau Pirera village, followed by a 50-minute drive and motorized canoe ride to the lodge, 75 kilometers upriver. You arrive by midday for lunch, then head out on a canoe trip through narrow creeks to fish for piranhas and a nocturnal expedition to spot alligators and other wildlife active after dark.
Day two centers on a 2.5-hour guided jungle walk where your guide points out medicinal plants and explains the dense forest ecosystem of the high rainforest. The afternoon brings a paddling canoe trip through the flooded channels and wetlands that shift with the season. Day three starts before sunrise with a visit to a Caboclo settlement (families who maintain traditional ways and farm using local techniques), then you return for lunch and depart for overnight camping in the jungle with a hammock and mosquito net. Your guide demonstrates how to extract what the forest provides without damaging it, and you'll hear howler monkeys and the chorus of night birds from your camp.
On the final morning, breakfast happens in the jungle before a walk back to the lodge. After lunch, you have free time to swim in the Rio Negro's distinctive dark water before the motorized canoe and car journey back to Manaus, arriving around 5:00pm. The tour includes three dinners, four lunches and three breakfasts across the four days. Rooms have no air conditioning, and a hammock is provided for the jungle night.

Is this one for you?The overnight jungle camping is what lets you experience the rainforest on its own terms (hearing the night chorus and learning directly from a guide how to live off the land), so book this version if you want immersion beyond the lodge. If you prefer staying in accommodation each night, choose the room with air-conditioning option and skip the camping component.
