The experience

You start with a hike into the rainforest to reach the top of Antelope Falls, learning about jungle plants and wildlife along a steep trail that takes about 1.5 hours. Once you reach the summit, you cool off in the emerald pools and take in views that stretch all the way to the Caribbean Sea. Then comes the main event: a 200-foot vertical rappel down the face of the waterfall itself, split into two sections so you can manage the descent safely with your guide managing the rope work.

After the rappel, you head to the zipline course for nine separate runs through the jungle canopy: the longest zipline in Belize. You move from platform to platform suspended above the forest floor, covering ground quickly and with a completely different view of the same landscape you hiked through that morning. The whole zipline portion takes about 1.5 hours. Lunch is available for purchase at the onsite Wild Fig Bistro and Bar if you want to refuel before heading back to the lodge.

The operator recommends starting at 9 am to avoid hiking in midday heat. Bring bug repellent, long pants, a t-shirt, bathing suit, and sneakers. You will get wet but dry quickly. Tie your hair back for the zipline. A minimum of two people is required to book. If you are traveling solo, contact the operator in advance to arrange a departure.
