The experience
The day starts with a 1.5-hour drive from Hopkins Village through Belizean countryside to Jaguar Paw. Once there, you'll strap into a harness and helmet for seven ziplines that range from 150 to 600 feet, each one carrying you higher over the rainforest canopy. The course is built to let you spot wildlife and take in the landscape as you move through it, not just to rush you through.
After ziplining, you gear up with a tube, helmet, and headlamp for a 30-minute jungle hike to the cave entrance. Then you settle into the tube and float for two hours through the Nohoch Che'en system: an underground river that winds past stalactites, limestone formations, and chambers the ancient Maya used for ceremonies. The current does the work. You float and look. Your guide travels with you and explains the history and geology as you move through.
Lunch is a traditional Belizean spread (stewed chicken, rice and beans, fresh sides) served after you've climbed out of the cave and had time to dry off. The return drive to Hopkins gives you space to sit quiet and let the day settle.
