Step-by-step itinerary

Zipline and river tubing adventure

  • Travel from Hopkins to Mayan King
  • Zipline through Belize jungle
  • Enjoy river tubing on South Stann Creek
  • Return to Hopkins Village

The experience

Your day starts with a 35-minute drive from Hopkins Village to Mayan King, where the two activities are based. The zipline section comes first: you'll clip into harnesses and move across seven lines that span 400 feet above the South Stann Creek, moving between 11 platforms as you work your way through the canopy. The guides brief you on each transition and stay with the group throughout. After the ziplines, you walk down to the river itself and swap the harness for a tube, then float downstream at the river's pace, watching the rainforest banks and whatever wildlife is moving through them.

The tubing half is the deliberate counterweight to the zipline rush. You're not paddling or steering, just drifting on the current with the guide keeping an eye on the group. The water stays cool and the ride takes you past dense vegetation on both sides. Once you've floated the section, you head back to the vehicle for the return to Hopkins. The whole sequence, from pickup to drop-off, runs roughly four hours. You'll get bottled water during the day and air conditioning on the drives, which matters in the Belizean heat.

Is this one for you?The zipline comes first and requires you to move actively between platforms at height, while the tubing that follows is entirely passive, so you get the adrenaline and the recovery in one outing. Book this if you want both the rush and the chance to float and breathe afterward.

Top questions

What languages is the guide in?

Live guide in English and Spanish.

What's the South Stann Creek like for tubing?

The South Stann Creek is the river you zipline above and then float down. It's described as cool and clear, with rainforest on both banks and wildlife in the area. You drift passively on the tube rather than paddling, so the pace is relaxed and set by the current.

Do I need experience with ziplining or tubing to book this?

No prior experience is required. The guides provide instruction before you start the ziplines and stay with you throughout both activities. You do need to be at least 16 years old and in moderate physical fitness. The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or cardiovascular concerns.

What's included in the price?

Admission to both activities, bottled water, pickup and return transport from Hopkins Village, and a guide in English or Spanish are all included. Gratuity for the guide is not included and is left to your discretion.

How does the pickup work from Hopkins?

The operator picks you up from Hopkins Village and drives you 35 minutes to Mayan King, where both activities are based. After you finish tubing, you ride back to Hopkins in the same air-conditioned vehicle.
