You make chocolate at Choco-Story, then eat what you made

You spend an hour making chocolate lollipops and mendiants under a chocolatier's guidance, then walk through Choco-Story's museum tasting different chocolate styles at your own speed. The pieces you shape are yours to take. Small groups, ages 7 and up, museum entry included.

Step-by-step itinerary

Chocolate workshop and museum visit

  • Attend 1-hour chocolate workshop
  • Learn to make mendiants and lollipops
  • Enjoy self-guided museum visit
  • Watch chocolate demonstration
  • Taste various chocolates

The Experience

Choco-Story sits on a quiet Bruges street, and the moment you walk in, the air smells like cocoa and butter. The workshop runs for an hour, and a chocolatier stands you in front of marble counters with melted chocolate, molds, and the small tools you'll use to shape mendiants and lollipops. It's not a demonstration where you watch — you're the one holding the piping bag, deciding where the chocolate goes, learning why temperature matters when you're tempering by hand.

Before the hands-on part, you move through the self-guided museum at your own pace. There's chocolate history, the equipment that made it, and tasting stations where you try different origins and styles. The chocolatier is there to explain what you're tasting and why one bar tastes different from another. Kids from age seven work alongside adults, and the groups stay small — never more than fifteen people in one session — so there's room to move and ask questions without feeling rushed.

What you make, you take home. The lollipops and mendiants you shaped are wrapped and ready to go by the end, which means you're not just leaving with a memory and a sugar rush — you're leaving with something you built. The whole thing, from entry to the last taste, takes about two hours, and the museum is close enough to walk from most Bruges hotels or a short tram ride if you're staying elsewhere.

What’s included

Your experience includes admission to Choco-Story Bruges Museum, a 1-hour hands-on chocolate workshop with a professional chocolatier where you'll make mendiants and chocolate lollipops, a self-guided museum visit at your own pace, multiple chocolate tastings throughout, and the chocolate pieces you create to take home. Groups stay small at a maximum of 15 travelers.

Is this one for you?Pick this if you want to actually make something with chocolate rather than just taste it, and you'd rather not spend the afternoon figuring out which pralines to buy — the workshop gives you a skill and a finished product in one go.
