Three Sisters & Scenic World in One Day From Sydney

You start with morning tea and the Three Sisters at Echo Point, then move through Sydney Zoo (or a nature walk, depending on your package), Scenic World's three rides and rainforest walkway, and the village of Leura. A second lookout and flexible return — bus or optional river ferry — round out the day. The Scenic World Unlimited Discovery Pass and zoo entry are included in most packages, which is what makes the full itinerary possible in one outing.

9h–10h

Step-by-step itinerary

  • Enjoy light morning tea at zoo
  • Meet kangaroos and koalas
  • Visit Echo Point Lookout
  • See the Three Sisters rock formation
  • Relax in Leura village
  • Experience Scenic World rides and walk
  • Take self-paced nature walk near Katoomba Falls
  • Visit Cahill Lookout for photos
  • Return by optional river cruise or bus

The Experience

The bus leaves Sydney early, and by mid-morning you're standing at Echo Point looking at the Three Sisters — the rock formation that dominates every Blue Mountains postcard, except the real thing is wider and deeper than the photos suggest. Your driver points out the Aboriginal Dreamtime story behind the rocks while you're taking pictures, and then there's time to walk around, find the angle that works, maybe sit on a bench and just look. The morning tea happens at the zoo parking area before you head in, so you're not hungry when you get there.

Sydney Zoo is modern and laid out so you can move at your own pace — kangaroos close enough to photograph, koalas in open habitats, the kind of place where you're not fighting crowds to see anything. If you've booked the "Nature Walk" option instead, you skip the zoo and do a self-guided walk near Katoomba Falls while others are at the zoo, spotting native parrots and waterfalls on your own time. Either way, the day splits here depending on which package you chose, which is why it matters to read the three options before booking.

Scenic World is the part that feels like a theme park but isn't — the Skyway glides you out over the Jamison Valley on a glass floor if you want that, the Cableway drops down a cliff face with views the whole way, and then there's the railway, which is genuinely one of the steepest passenger railways in the world and feels like it. The Scenic Walkway loops through rainforest if you want to stretch your legs between rides. Leura village comes after, a small mountain town with boutique shops, cafes, and the kind of quiet that makes you want to stay longer than you do. Cahill Lookout or Lincoln's Rock (depending on maintenance schedules) gives you another viewpoint — less crowded than Echo Point, good for a second round of photos if the light's changed.

The return to Sydney is your choice: bus back the way you came, or an optional river ferry from Sydney Olympic Park Wharf if you want the water route. Either way, you're back in the city by evening, and the whole day — zoo, Three Sisters, Scenic World, Leura, the lookouts — fits into one trip without you having to arrange transport or buy separate tickets.

Top questions

What's the difference between the three package options?
The "Scenic World & Zoo Entry" package includes both Sydney Zoo and Scenic World Unlimited Discovery Pass. The "Nature Walk" option swaps the zoo for a self-guided walk near Katoomba Falls while others visit Scenic World. The "No Zoo Entry" option includes Scenic World but not the zoo. All three include morning tea, the Three Sisters at Echo Point, Leura village, and a lookout stop.
How long is the full day?
The itinerary runs from early morning departure to evening return, with the exact duration depending on your package and return option (bus or optional river ferry).
Is the morning tea included?
Yes, a light morning tea is included for all packages, served at the zoo parking area or another suitable spot early in the day.
Can I choose to skip Scenic World?
The "Nature Walk" option lets you do a self-guided walk instead of Scenic World while others visit. If you want to skip both the zoo and Scenic World, that option isn't available in the current packages.
What happens if I choose the Nature Walk option while others do Scenic World?
You'll do a relaxed, self-paced walk near Katoomba Falls or nearby scenic areas with a brief guide introduction, then walk independently. You'll have chances to see native parrots and waterfalls. Free time may be available if you finish earlier than the Scenic World group.
Is the river ferry return included?
The river ferry return from Sydney Olympic Park Wharf is optional. The standard return is by bus or coach, included in all packages.
What's included in the price?
Admission to Sydney Zoo (in most packages), Scenic World Unlimited Discovery Pass (in most packages), light morning tea, professional driver service, comfortable transport, fuel surcharge, parking fees, and tips for the driver.
Can I bring a pram or stroller?
Yes, infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller. Infants must sit on an adult's lap during transport.
