The Experience

The day starts at the End of the World Train Station, where you'll photograph the southernmost narrow-gauge train on the planet and learn the history of the Presidio of Ushuaia before heading into the park itself. The station's hall holds decades of detail about the region, and you can grab coffee or tea there if you arrive early. If you haven't booked a train ticket separately, this is where you can arrange one.

From there, the route moves through the park's signature stops. Acigami Lake sits beneath the Guanaco and Cóndor Hills, and you'll do a short walk to see native flora and birds found nowhere else on earth—the guide will name the tree species and explain what makes this corner of Patagonia distinct. Bahía Lapataia is the day's centerpiece: you walk its footbridges to the archaeological sites the Yagan people left behind, with panoramic views across the water and mountains. A five-minute walk at Mirador de Laguna Verde rounds out the afternoon, where the forest colors reflect in the lagoon and the light is best for photographs.

Bahía Ensenada Zaratiegui, where you can stamp your passport at the southernmost scam on the planet, runs November through April and may close for repairs or weather—the guide will confirm before the day starts. If it's closed, the time extends at other stops instead. The vehicle is air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible, and the walks are short enough for mixed fitness levels.
