The experience
Seven hours is tight for a port call, and this tour threads the day around the sites that matter most. You're picked up at the pier with a nameplate, then driven to Marble Mountains, where an elevator takes you to the summit cluster of five peaks: each one named for water, fire, wood, metal and earth. Below, you'll visit a family marble-carving workshop to watch local craftspeople at work, then explore the pagodas and natural caves that once sheltered wounded soldiers during the war. The views back toward the coast frame the whole landscape.
From there you head to Hoi An, the old town that draws visitors across Vietnam. The guide walks you through the back alleys and the main sights: the Japanese Covered Bridge (the symbol of the city), an old house, a Chinese Assembly Hall, and the Folklore Museum. Lunch happens at a riverside restaurant before the drive back to the port. You'll also stop at the Dragon Bridge in Da Nang on the way (a steel landmark shaped like a dragon, which local belief ties to power and good fortune), and pause at My Khe Beach (once called China Beach) for photos.
The guide speaks English and knows the history of each stop. Transport is a private car, minivan or modern bus depending on group size, and the driver stays with you the whole time. Cold water and tissues are provided. All entrance tickets are included in the price. Lunch is included but drinks are separate.
