You get picked up from your Da Nang hotel and transferred to the speedboat dock, then spend the day island-hopping across eight granite peaks in a UNESCO marine park. You'll visit Hai Tang Pagoda, snorkel the coral reefs for about thirty minutes, and have free time at Ong Beach before a full seafood lunch with the group. The boat and all equipment are included, along with the ride back to your hotel — just bring a swimsuit and be ready to leave early.
Is this one for you?Book this if you want a full island and snorkeling day without arranging your own transport, boat, equipment, or lunch — the fixed itinerary and included meals mean you show up at your hotel in the morning and everything else is handled.
The speedboat was supposed to leave Cua Dai Quay at 8:30, but we didn't get there until 8:45 — the hotel pickup took longer than expected, and our guide, who spoke English clearly enough, just shrugged and said it happened sometimes. No drama, though. We climbed aboard with maybe a dozen other people, got fitted with life jackets that actually fit, and within twenty minutes we were cutting across water so clear you could see the bottom. The Cham Islands opened up in front of us, eight granite peaks rising out of the sea, part of the Cu Lao Cham Marine Park, which is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. That detail stuck with me because it meant the corals we'd see later weren't just pretty — they were protected.
The first stop was Au Thuyen, then Hai Tang Pagoda sitting on Bai Lang Beach, which our guide explained was built centuries ago and still used by locals. We didn't spend long at either — maybe thirty minutes total — but that's the rhythm of this kind of tour: you move. After that came Huong Beach, where we actually got in the water. The snorkeling lasted about thirty minutes, and honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but the coral reefs were thick with fish, small schools of them, yellow and blue and striped things I couldn't name. The water was cold enough that you felt alive in it. We finished at Ong Beach, where the group split — some people swam, some lay on the sand, and we snorkeled again because we could.
Lunch showed up around one o'clock, and this is where the day shifted. Grilled seafood, steamed shrimp, fried fish in tomato sauce, stir-fried vegetables, rice, mustard soup with pork, sautéed squid, grilled scallop, fried noodles, French fries, fried eggs, and fruit for dessert. It sounds like a lot because it was — the table was crowded, and you picked what you wanted. The squid was tender, the fish was fresh, and the soup had real depth to it. One person in our group was vegetarian and just ate around the meat, which the guide had warned us about beforehand. By two o'clock we were back on the speedboat heading toward Da Nang, and the ride back took about an hour, which gave you time to dry off and sit with the salt in your hair.
The whole day runs from early morning until late afternoon, and you need to bring a swimsuit and extra clothes because you will get wet. The transfer from your hotel to the harbor is included, but it only covers Da Nang city center, so if you're staying outside that zone, check first. Snorkeling equipment is provided, and so is a mineral water during the day. The entrance fees to the islands are built in, so there's nothing else to pay once you're on the boat.
