The Experience

The speedboat leaves from Da Nang or Hoi An with your hotel pickup arranged, carrying you out to Cham Island's protected waters. Once you arrive, your guide fits you with mask, fins and goggles, then leads you into the water to swim among schools of tropical fish and explore colonies of living coral. The reef work is the core of the day — you spend the morning and early afternoon in and out of the water, snorkeling at different depths and sites around the island.

Between water sessions, you rest at Bai Chong beach, a unique ecological site within the UNESCO biosphere reserve. A hammock waits if you want to swing in it, or you can sit on the sand. Lunch is a Vietnamese seafood meal served at a Cham jungle restaurant, included in the price. Bottled water is on hand throughout the day. The speedboat and air-conditioned vehicle handle all transport; you bring nothing but a towel and sunscreen.
