The experience

The tour starts with hotel pickup at 8:30am and a drive to An Thoi pier, where you board a private speedboat with your guide and crew. From there you head to the four islands: Mong Tay first, where you swim and relax on white sand for about an hour. Then Bom and Gham Ghi, where the coral grows in water just one to three meters deep: close enough to see schools of fish and the colored reefs without diving. The water is clear enough that you can spot fish and coral from the surface, and the operator suggests bringing bread or cake to feed them.

Lunch happens on May Rut Island, where BBQ seafood dishes and one cold beer or Coca-Cola per person are served at a restaurant on the beach. The island itself is quieter, marked by the sound of waves and coconut trees. After eating, you have time to swim or rest before the speedboat returns to An Thoi port around 3:30pm, and your guide drives you back to your hotel.

Snorkeling equipment is provided, and the guide speaks English. The minivan and speedboat are both air-conditioned and modern. Children from age six are welcome, and infants can sit on an adult's lap or use a specialized seat.
