The experience
You'll meet Nenu at her house in a gated community on the edge of a lake, where she'll offer you a drink and talk through her life in San Diego before moving into the open kitchen. For roughly two hours, you watch and learn as she walks you through making an appetizer, a main and a dessert: dishes like black pepper and cumin pork dosa tacos with pickled vegetables, tandoori chicken with spinach rice and mint sauce, or saffron and mango kulfi for dessert. This is a demonstration, so you're seeing her technique and tasting as you go, not standing at a separate station cooking in parallel.
After the cooking portion wraps, you sit down together at her dining table or outside if the weather holds, and eat the meal she's prepared. A glass of wine comes with the experience. On some days Nenu's husband and children join you at the table, which shifts the feel from one-on-one instruction to a more casual family dinner. The whole thing is 100% private: no other guests, no group dynamic.
You choose between a lunch or dinner time slot when you book. Vegetarian and vegan versions of the menu are available if you need them. The class is conducted in English, though Nenu also speaks Hindi.
