Cook a three-course meal from scratch, then eat it together.

A private cooking class in California where you prepare a Mediterranean salad, main course and dessert alongside Nicole, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef with 15+ years in French and Italian cuisine. You'll learn hands-on techniques (searing steak, making vinaigrette, mastering sauces) in her home kitchen, then sit down to enjoy what you've cooked with wine or beer. A baking class focusing on scones and macarons is available as an alternative.

The experience

Nicole's home kitchen is where the class happens, and it's built for cooking, not watching. Over roughly two and a half hours, you'll work through three dishes: an organic mixed greens salad with candied nuts, cheese and balsamic vinaigrette; Tuscan chicken with roasted baby dill potatoes and lemony green beans; and French chocolate cake. You're not following a script: Nicole shares the techniques she's used as a personal chef to LA's elite, and she adjusts the pace to what you're picking up. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free diets are all accommodated. Just note your preferences when you book.

If baking appeals more than cooking, you can swap the whole class for one focused on savory or sweet scones and macarons instead. Cheddar jalapeño or blueberry thyme scones pair with chocolate, caramel or raspberry macarons, and you'll sample them with an iced coffee latte or wine. Either way (cooking or baking). You eat what you've made before you leave, with wine or beer included.

The class is private, so it's just you (or your group) and Nicole. Her home has two dogs, but they usually stay away during the experience. Public transportation options are nearby if you need them, and infants can come in a pram or stroller.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 11 years); Infant (under 4): free.

What exactly do I cook in the Mediterranean cooking class?

You prepare three dishes: a mixed greens salad with candied nuts, cheese and balsamic vinaigrette; Tuscan chicken with roasted baby dill potatoes and lemony green beans; and French chocolate cake. Nicole walks you through each one from scratch, teaching techniques like how to sear steak properly and make homemade vinaigrette.

Can I do a baking class instead of cooking?

Yes. The baking class focuses on savory or sweet scones and macarons: flavors include cheddar jalapeño or blueberry thyme scones, and chocolate, caramel or raspberry macarons. You'll sample them with an iced coffee latte or wine. Just mention "Baking Class" in the special requirements field when you book.

Do I eat what I make, or is this just instruction?

You eat it. After cooking or baking, you sit down with Nicole and enjoy the meal you've prepared, with wine or beer included. It's part of the experience, not an afterthought.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free diets are all welcome. Let Nicole know your preferences when you book and she'll adjust the recipes and ingredients accordingly.
