Key West Snorkeling: Private Reef Boat Charter
The captain chooses where you dive based on what's happening that day, not a fixed route.
A private snorkeling charter in Key West lets your group pick the reefs, sandbars and marine life you want to pursue, with a captain who adjusts the route by weather, tides and visibility. You get snorkeling equipment, water and snacks. The boat holds only your party, so there's no waiting for a larger group to finish at each stop.

The experience
You board a private boat with your group and the captain decides which snorkeling sites to visit based on real-time conditions: visibility, tides, weather and sea state. Coral habitat, shallow-water reefs, mangrove areas and wreck sites are all possible, depending on what's safe and what will work for your experience level. Tropical fish, rays and sea turtles show up when they do. The captain doesn't guarantee sightings, but the flexibility to chase good conditions beats a fixed itinerary that might hit dead water.
Snorkeling equipment is on board, so beginners and experienced snorkelers both go in ready. The boat carries bottled water, snacks, ice and coolers, plus cups and plates. You're not scrambling to bring your own supplies. When time and conditions allow, you can request a sandbar stop or a swimming break instead of diving the whole charter. The captain has final say on the route and all safety calls, which is how a private boat works: your preferences shape the day, but conditions and expertise decide what's actually possible.
The charter runs about four hours. Bring your own towel. The boat doesn't provide one, but you get complimentary access to the Perry Hotel pool and gym for the day ($35 value per adult, $15 per child), so you can rinse off and change before heading back into town.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What kind of marine life might I see while snorkeling in Key West?
Tropical fish, rays and sea turtles are common in Key West waters, especially around coral reefs and shallow-water sites. Sightings depend on the day's conditions and which sites the captain chooses, so they're not guaranteed, but the captain picks locations where these animals are likely to be.
Can I snorkel if I've never done it before?
Yes, the charter accommodates both beginners and experienced snorkelers. Equipment is included, and the captain selects sites that match your group's level and comfort in the water.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my charter?
The captain makes all decisions about safety and route based on weather, tides, visibility and sea conditions. If conditions are unsafe, the operator will work with you on rescheduling or cancellation options. Check the booking terms for specifics.
Can we stop at a sandbar or just swim instead of snorkeling the whole time?
Yes, when time and conditions allow, your group can request a sandbar stop or a swimming break. The captain decides what's possible based on the day's conditions and how much time the charter has left.
What's included in the charter, and what do I need to bring?
Snorkeling equipment, bottled water, snacks, ice, coolers and utensils are all included. Bring your own towel. The boat doesn't provide one. Wear reef-safe sunscreen and bring any personal medications or items you need for four hours on the water.
