The experience

You're in Times Square with an afternoon or evening free, and you want a meal that's more than just fuel. Hard Rock Cafe delivers classic American cooking (cheeseburgers, hickory-smoked ribs, salmon, steak, and vegetarian options) in a room built around the world's greatest collection of music memorabilia. The franchise started in London in 1971 with a three-month lease nobody thought would stick. Today it spans more than 63 countries, and the memorabilia travels with it. You'll eat surrounded by pieces of that history.

The meal works on a prix-fixe structure: you pick either the 2-course or 3-course option, choose your entree from the menu, and both come with a soft drink (coffee, tea or soda) and dessert. All taxes and gratuities are already in the price, so there's no math at the end. The experience runs about two hours. Two menu themes are available (Electric and Acoustic), so the choice is yours before you sit down. Menu items do shift without notice, and the kitchen notes that some restrictions apply, so it's worth checking what's current when you book.

The location matters: Times Square itself is the draw for many, and Hard Rock sits right in it. Reservations are strongly suggested, especially if you're going during the holidays when the neighborhood fills up. The space is wheelchair accessible, and if you're traveling with infants or small children, prams and strollers are fine. Specialized infant seats are available. Service animals are welcome.
