Oxbow Bend is the centerpiece: a curve in the Snake River where the water sits still enough to mirror Mt. Moran and the Teton range. White pelicans, trumpeter swans and blue herons gather here regularly. Grizzly bears, fox and beaver appear often enough that the guide watches for them. Jackson Lake, fed by the Snake River from the north, sits at the base of the mountains and gives you the scale of the park from the water's edge. Jenny Lake, a glacial moraine lake, rounds out the stops: each one shows a different face of the park.

Mormon Row Historic District breaks up the drive: original homestead structures and the iconic Moulton barns built by Mormon settlers in the early 1900s stand against the mountain backdrop. The Teton range itself (11,000 to 13,000+ feet with no foothills between them and the valley) rises straight up from the ground where you stand, which is the geography that makes this park distinct.
