Discover Scuba Diving is a PADI beginner program in Dubai that teaches you to dive under direct professional supervision without requiring full certification first. You start in a purpose-built pool at Al Boom Diving's Jumeirah Dive Center on Al Wasl Road, learn basic safety and breathing techniques, then move to an ocean dive off Jumeirah Beach. The full experience runs 6 hours and includes all scuba equipment; children are welcome from age 10.

The Experience

The scuba equipment is the first thing you handle—the mask, the regulator you'll breathe through, the tank on your back, the fins. A PADI Professional walks you through how each piece works and how to move around underwater with the gear on, all in the controlled environment of the purpose-built pool at Jumeirah Dive Center. This is where you find out what it actually feels like to breathe underwater before the ocean comes into play. You learn the key skills you'll need—how to clear water from your mask, how to equalize pressure in your ears, how to signal your guide—all while swimming around in the pool where there's no current and nowhere to go but up.

Once you're comfortable with the basics, you move to the ocean dive off Jumeirah Beach. The guide stays with you the entire time, watching your breathing and your movements, making sure you're in control. This is not a certification course—you're not taking an exam or getting a card—so the focus is on the experience itself and on building confidence. By the end of the 6 hours, you'll have been underwater twice and you'll know whether diving is something you want to pursue further. The program also includes information about the PADI Open Water Diver course if you decide to get certified.
