Tandem paragliding in Fethiye pairs you with a certified pilot for a 30- to 45-minute flight above Babadağ Mountain and Ölüdeniz Beach. You're picked up by air-conditioned bus, driven to the launch point (altitude varies with weather, between 1,200 and 1,900 meters), and after a brief preflight briefing, you and your pilot take off together. The flight descends toward the beach and lands in front of the office, where you can review photos and video if you've booked the recording package. Children from age 4 are welcome. The experience

The paraglider, harness and helmet are yours from pickup. A bus collects you in Fethiye and climbs to the launch site. The exact altitude depends on wind and weather that day, anywhere from 1,200 to 1,900 meters. You'll stand at the edge with your pilot, get a few words of instruction on what to expect, and then you're airborne. There's nothing to operate. Your job is to stay still and let the thermals do the work while the pilot steers.

The flight itself runs 30 to 45 minutes, and most of it is spent drifting above Ölüdeniz. The turquoise lagoon that's been the signature of this spot since paragliders discovered it in 1990. The mountain sits less than 5 kilometers from the sea, which is why the thermals here are so reliable. You'll circle and climb, watching the beach get smaller. If you want more than just the view, tell your pilot before takeoff and they'll throw in wingovers and spirals: the kind of moves that make your stomach flip. If you booked the flight recording package, your pilot transfers the video and photos to you while you're sitting in the office with an espresso.
