The Experience

The Big Buddha sits on a ridge above the island, white and still, looking out over three bays at once. That's the photograph everyone wants, and you get there in the first hour. But before you stand in front of it, the driver takes you through Wat Chalong, the largest Buddhist temple in Phuket, where the light hits the gold differently depending on the angle you walk.
