The tour runs six hours and covers ground most visitors miss because they stick to Patong. You'll see Karon Viewpoint, which frames Kata Noi, Kata and Karon beaches in one frame; Windmill Viewpoint, where sea eagles and model airplane enthusiasts share the thermals above Nai Harn Beach; and Promthep Cape at the island's southern tip, where the light shifts across the Andaman throughout the day. The Big Buddha sits 45 metres tall on the Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata, visible from Phuket Town and Karon Beach on clear days. From the top, the 360-degree views sweep across Phuket Town, Kata, Karon, Chalong Bay and the hills that spine the island. Wat Chalong, the island's most visited temple, has welcomed visitors for over a century; locals come to pray and the architecture—the glittering surfaces, the scale—gives a concrete sense of what Buddhism means here. Phuket Old Town is compact enough to walk, built on tin-boom wealth a century ago: you'll see Sino-colonial mansions, Chinese temples, ornate shophouses, and cafés tucked into corners. The best time to stroll it is early morning or after the heat breaks.

You can take the standard program—Karon Viewpoint, Windmill Viewpoint, Big Buddha, Wat Chalong, Phuket Town, Rang Hill, Promthep Cape—or tell the driver where you want to go instead. Two optional stops exist: Mai Khao Beach at the airport's western end, where planes land over turquoise water and the sand stretches 50 metres wide at low tide; and Ma Doo Bua, a café built around a lake of giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies.
