You complete four open water dives across three days with a private boat, expert instructor, and all equipment provided. The course includes classroom theory each morning, hands-on training in shallow water on day one, then two official open water dives on days two and three. You'll log everything in the PADI app and walk away with your certification card and the skills to dive independently anywhere in the world.
You board the private dive boat on your first morning in Koh Tao, and the instructor walks you through the theory you've already started online—buoyancy, pressure, how to clear your mask underwater. It's not abstract anymore; in a few hours you'll be doing it. The morning session covers what you need to know, then after lunch you're in the water at two shallow dive sites near the beach, practicing the basics with the instructor right there, watching your bubbles rise for the first time. It's quieter down there than you'd expect, and stranger, and by the end of the afternoon you're tired in a way that feels earned. You clean your gear on the beachfront deck afterward—a skill you'll need if you ever own your own—and watch the sunset over the water.
Day two pushes deeper into both theory and practice. The morning session builds on what you learned, moving into more advanced concepts, and then you're back on the boat heading to two more dive sites. This time you're not just practicing; you're completing your first two official open water dives, applying everything in real conditions with the instructor guiding you through each step. You go a bit deeper than yesterday, and the confidence you felt yesterday becomes something more solid. The debriefing afterward covers what's left to learn, and you log everything in the PADI app so there's a record of it all.
On the final morning you do your last two dives—the ones that finish the certification. By now the routine feels natural: the boat, the gear check, the descent, the skills, the ascent. You're not thinking about whether you can do it anymore; you're thinking about what you're seeing. The debriefing wraps everything up, you clean your equipment one last time, and you log your final dives. That's it. You're PADI Open Water certified, and the card is yours to keep.
