Snorkeling Koh Samui: Pig Island & Taen Island by Speedboat
Swim with reef fish and beach pigs in one afternoon
A speedboat snorkeling tour from Koh Samui visits Pig Island and Taen Island, where you feed the famous pigs on white sand, then dive into coral reefs teeming with marine life. The tour includes hotel pickup from Lamai, Chaweng, Bophut and other Koh Samui neighborhoods; snorkeling gear and life jacket; Thai lunch with sea views at Koh Madsum; and an English-speaking guide. The tour runs 4 to 5 hours.
Step-by-step itinerary
Pig Island and Taen Island tour
- Meet beach-loving pigs on white sands
- Snap photos and feed the pigs
- Swim and snorkel in clear waters
- Explore vibrant coral reefs
- Relax on the beach
- Enjoy Thai set lunch with sea views
The Experience
You start at your hotel—the speedboat picks you up from Lamai, Butterfly Garden, Chaweng, Bangpor, Maenam, Bophut, Cheongmon or Bangrak—and heads straight to Pig Island. The pigs roam the powdery white beach and swim in the shallows; you feed them, photograph them, and wade in alongside them. It's the moment most people come for, and it arrives early enough that you're not competing with the afternoon crowds.
From there the boat takes you to Taen Island, where the snorkeling happens. The water is calm and clear, and the coral reefs sit close enough to the surface that you see the fish without diving deep. You have time to explore at your own pace—the guide is there, but the reef is yours to move through. A sun bed and kayak are available if you want to rest between water time and the next stop.
Lunch is a Thai set meal served at a beachfront restaurant on Koh Madsum, with drinks and snacks included. The whole day—pickup, snorkeling gear, life jacket, the guide, the boat, the food—is arranged. You show up at your hotel and the rest unfolds without you planning it.
