Pig Island & Snorkeling Tour from Koh Samui by Speed Boat
Feed wild pigs on a secret island, then snorkel and kayak the reefs nearby.
A full-day speed boat tour from Koh Samui to three small islands south of the resort area, with snorkeling at Koh Tan, kayaking and lunch at Koh Mudsum, and time to interact with pigs on Pig Beach. The tour includes hotel pickup, an English-speaking guide, snorkeling gear, kayaks, a beach meal and accident insurance; the entrance fee to Pig Island is paid to the driver at pickup.
Step-by-step itinerary
Speed boat tour and island activities
- Depart from Bang Kao Pier
- Snorkel at Koh Tan coral reef
- Kayak at Koh Mudsum
- Enjoy lunch on Koh Mudsum beach
- Relax and swim on Koh Mudsum
- Feed and play with pigs on Pig Beach
The Experience
The tour departs from Bang Kao Pier on Koh Samui's southwest coast and heads first to Koh Tan, where you snorkel the coral reef. The boat then carries you to Koh Mudsum, a small island with no electricity or running water—a true quiet place just a short ride from the main resort area. Here you get kayaks to paddle on your own, and lunch is served on the beach. The day's main draw is Pig Beach, where you can watch and interact with pigs living naturally on the island; the operator asks that you keep a safe distance and avoid touching or feeding them, as they behave unpredictably.
Both islands are undeveloped and built for a slow pace. After snorkeling and kayaking, you have free time to swim and relax on the white sand. The meal comes on the beach at Koh Mudsum, and bottled water is provided throughout. The speed boat makes the islands reachable in a morning and afternoon without the need to arrange your own transport or guide a group yourself.

What's the actual experience like with the pigs on Pig Beach?
Pig Beach is a natural habitat where pigs live on the island. You can watch and interact with them during your time there, though the operator emphasizes keeping a safe distance since they are wild animals and can behave unpredictably; touching or feeding them is not recommended.
Do I need to bring my own snorkeling gear?
Snorkeling equipment is provided as part of the tour, along with a life jacket. You bring your swimwear, towel and a waterproof bag for personal items.
How much time do I actually spend in the water versus on the boat?
The tour runs six hours total. You snorkel at Koh Tan, then move to Koh Mudsum where you have time for kayaking, swimming and lunch on the beach. The exact breakdown depends on sea conditions and the group's pace, but the itinerary is built around water time and beach relaxation rather than boat travel.
Is the kayaking difficult, or can anyone do it?
Kayaking is available as self-service at Koh Mudsum, meaning you paddle on your own at your own pace. The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels, though it is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or those who are pregnant.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The itinerary may change depending on weather and sea conditions for safety reasons. The operator will adjust the stops or timing as needed to keep the tour safe.
Does the price include everything, or are there extra fees?
Hotel pickup, the English-speaking guide, snorkeling gear, kayaks, lunch on the beach, bottled water and accident insurance are all included. The entrance fee to Pig Island is paid to the driver at pickup time.
