Sunset Yoga Overlooking Sunrise Beach — Ko Lipe's Most Photographed Stretch

You join a 70-minute intermediate vinyasa class on Sunrise Beach at 5pm, one of Ko Lipe's most photographed stretches, with mats provided and a teacher who's been teaching yoga in Thailand for nearly two decades. Small groups mean individual attention, and the modifications keep the pace accessible even if you're newer to flow. You get the class, the view, and the sound of the sea — nothing else to arrange.

The Experience

The class was supposed to start at four-thirty, but Keira was still setting up mats when we arrived — the light had shifted earlier than expected, and she wanted the angle just right. That's the kind of detail that matters when your studio is literally the beach. We stood there for a few minutes, watching her adjust the platform, and it became clear this wasn't going to be one of those yoga classes where you're packed shoulder-to-shoulder in a heated room. The group that day was seven people. The mat next to mine faced straight out toward Koh Talang island and the Andaman Sea, and the 5pm class at Keirita's Yoga Shala doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is: seventy minutes of intermediate vinyasa flow with the best view in Ko Lipe.

Keira's been teaching yoga in Thailand since 2006 — she also taught scuba diving before that, so she knows how to read a room and adjust on the fly. The class itself is a slow-flow rocket style, which sounds intense but isn't, because she builds it in stages. We started with sun salutations to warm up, moved through standing postures and balancing work, then seated poses, and finished with deep relaxation and a short meditation. If something felt too strong, she offered a modification without making it feel like a step down. The whole thing moved at a pace that let you actually feel what you were doing instead of just chasing the person in front of you. And yeah, the sea was right there — you could hear it between breaths, and the light was turning gold by the time we hit savasana.

The class runs at 5pm only, despite what some listings say — that's the slot to book, and it matters because that's when the light works and the beach is quieter. Yoga mats are included, so you show up with nothing but yourself. Intermediate level means you should have some practice already, but Keira doesn't turn anyone away if you're honest about where you're at. The group stays small — five to nine people on average — which is why she can actually see you and adjust your alignment instead of just calling out cues to a crowd.

Top questions

What time does the class actually start?

5pm. Book the 5pm slot even if other times appear in the listing — that's the only class offered.

Between 5 and 9 people on average, so it stays personal and the teacher can adjust your alignment.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat?

No, mats are included. Bring yourself and a water bottle.

Is this class suitable if I'm new to yoga?

It's intermediate level, so some prior practice helps. Modifications are offered for poses that feel too intense, but you should be comfortable with basic flows.

How long is the class?

70 minutes total, including warm-up, standing and seated postures, and a closing meditation.

What's the view like?

You face Sunrise Beach, Koh Talang island, and the Andaman Sea. It's one of Ko Lipe's most photographed beaches, and the 5pm light is why the timing matters.

Is there parking or public transport nearby?

Public transportation options are available near the studio. Check locally for the best way to reach Sunrise Beach.
